Daikin Altherma heat pump system. With space and water heating representing 85% of UK residential energy consumption, replacing conventional central heating boilers with Daikin Altherma air to water heat pumps is the single largest contribution householders can make towards reducing carbon emissions.


Product Description:
 

Altherma is a air source air-to-water heat pump system designed to replace an existing boiler working to a temperature of -20°C. The Daikin Altherma system is designed to replace conventional fossil fuel boilers (Gas/LPG/Oil/direct electric) to providing 3-5 times more energy efficient heating and hot water to family homes. For use with vented and unvented systems the Daikin Altherma is ideal for home and light commercial installations and comes as a complete kit (excluding plumbing pipe etc). The system comprises of a outdoor heat-pump which collects the heat from the outside air and transfers it to the indoor heat exchanger. Highly efficient and adaptable the Daikin Altherma will offer big savings for users of oil etc. The Daikin Altherma can be easily integrated with a optional solar collector for heating the domestic hot water. There is no specific panel required by Altherma which makes it adaptable for use with most solar collectors with a standard pump station. The sun can provide 30 to 70% of the energy required for our hot water needs and is a great way to get free hot water even on cloudy days. In extreme conditions (sub -20°C) the Daikin Altherma can supply additional heat by means of an electrical back-up heater. On an annual basis, the heat pump itself will supply 90 to 95% of your heating requirements. 

Domestic hot water tank

The water inside the storage tank is primarily warmed up by thermal energy collected by the outdoor inverter heat pump unit's heat exchanger. An additional electrical heating element in the domestic water tank heats at necessary intervals the water automatically to 70°C  to prevent bacteria growth.



Indoor Tank Sizes:

With Daikin Altherma you can enjoy delightfully warm and perfectly safe water at all times, depending on your daily consumption of hot water, Altherma domestic hot water tanks are available in three different sizes. The largest one being the most efficient they range in size from 150 ltr, 200 ltr and 300 ltr.

 

Solar Collector (optional) EKUHWB2WB Solar Installation Accessory Kit:

In combination with solar collectors, Daikin Altherma uses thermal energy from the sun which can provide 30 to 70% of the energy required for our hot water needs. The EKUHWB2WB installation kit is what is required when connecting a solar collector to the system


Intelligent temperature regulator  (optional):

The system can be combined with additional temperature regulating systems with separate thermostats for every single room. Both wired and wireless models of easy-to-use thermostats with extensive possibilities are available from Daikin.


How It Works?

The outdoor unit extracts heat from the outside air and raises its temperature to a level high enough to supply heating. The Daikin Altherma heat pump system extracts thermal energy (at ambient temperature) from the air and upgrades the heat to a higher temperature releasing it into the water running through your central heating system. With radiators, under floor heating systems and fan coil units the heat is distributed around the system. See video for more information.
