Description
Wind / Solar Immersion Water Heater
Kit Includes:
-
Immersion water heating element
-
immersion tank conversion kit
This immersion heater is an eco friendly and the most effective way of using a wind turbine or solar power system to heat your hot water. The system voltage can be installed directly to the heating element for or as a dump power element facility to prevent overcharging of batteries. When a wind turbine is used to heat water with this immersion heating element, virtually every watt of rated power is used to heat water, even when the turbine is only turning slowly. This is because there is no loss due to inverter/regulator inefficiency. For every degree the water is heated in this way, electricity or gas which would otherwise have been used to raise the water temperature is saved. This item has no thermostatic control so would require an external control.

Pictured above is a schematic of a basic system designed to use alternative energy - primarily wind power - to heat water for domestic use. A low voltage DC immersion heater element is retro-fitted to a standard hot water cylinder. This heating element goes in to a depth of around 12 inches so it is at the centre of the bottom of the tank ready to heat the water most efficiently.
Hot Water Cylinder Cold Feed Conversion Kit
Kit Consists of 1 X 1" BSP Equal Tee. 1 x 1" BSP Thread, 1 X 1" BSPx 22mm Compression Elbow. This kit will convert the normal 1" cold feed on a standard Hot water cylinder to accept a 1" BSP FI Low Voltge Water Immersion Heater Element This enables you to safely install the immersion heater into the cold feed to the cylinder It is important that the branch on the tee faces downwards this is to prevent hot water traveling back up the cold feed supply and into the cold water storage tank. You will need a 10" space from the cold water feed connection on your hot water cylinder before any obstruction (i.e. cupboard wall, pipe, heating control ect) this is to enable the fitting or removal of the immersion heater.

As all cylinder installations are different you may need some additional 22mm copper and maybe an additional 22mm fitting to complete the pipe work to connect back to your existing cold feed pipe.
